We are heartbroken to announce that we must cancel the last two performances of Ken Ludwig’s Moon Over Buffalo, which were scheduled for Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18. Unfortunately, there has been COVID exposure among the members of our production. It is our responsibility to ensure everyone is safe, including our community. We thank you all for your understanding and support. If you’ve already purchased tickets, we will be reaching out about refunds in the next couple of days.

Having to cancel performances when we have already incurred production costs is devastating to our recovery efforts. For the last two years, the Tennessee Valley Art Association–which runs The Ritz and the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art–has been steadfast in our efforts to offer arts experiences in the safest, lowest-risk environments possible.

If you believe in the importance of the arts and support our commitment to keeping our artists and patrons safe, please consider donating or becoming a member of the TVAA. Your support is vital to the recovery of our organization, which has provided arts experiences and education in the Tennessee Valley for over 50 years.

Moon Over Buffalo

at the historic ritz theatre
in downtown sheffield, al
a comedy directed by Michael Green
September 9-12 & 17-18

The Ritz Theatre presents Ken Ludwig’s screwball comedy Moon Over Buffalo, directed by Michael Green. George and Charlotte Hay are fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in Buffalo, NY with five actors.

On the brink of a disastrous split-up, they receive word that they might have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his next movie. Everything that could go wrong does go wrong in this valentine to the stage and the larger-than-life personalities that inhabit the world of the theatre. Contains mild profanity and adult situations.

The Ritz’s dinner theatre fundraiser is back! Join us for a pre-show dinner by The Red Clay Table! Enjoy an entree, salad, and dessert at The Logan Room, just around the corner from The Ritz. A cash bar will also be available. You can arrive for your meal anytime between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm on September 9. Reserve your spot by August 30.

After selecting your seats, you’ll be able given the option to include Dinner Theatre add-ons ($30 each) in your order. You can select steak, chicken, or vegetarian for each dinner. Make sure you add a meal option for each person who will be attending the dinner.
