An introductory course where students will be introduced to the basic concepts of drawing, learn about their materials and actively engage in various techniques utilizing charcoal on paper.
Jonathan Cain was born in Florence, Alabama and later moved to Russellville, Alabama. His childhood interests always revolved around the arts. He is a graduate of the University of North Alabama receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health. Jonathan also attended the University of Mississippi where he earned a Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in Sculpture and where he pursued a Master of Arts in Art History to near completion. He has worked across a multitude of media but particularly enjoys painting and sculpture. Jonathan was previously the Curator for the Tennessee Valley Art Association and has returned to fill that role again in 2020. He has been a visiting Professor at both the University of Mississippi and the University of North Alabama, Instructor at Northwest Shoals Community College, and taught art at Florence Public High School for several years. He continues to be an active art educator as an Adjunct Professor for the University of North Alabama.
