Foundation for Endowment, Inc.

Our History

The Tennessee Valley Art Association Foundation for Endowment was incorporated February 16, 2012 with generous endowments from Tennessee Valley Art Association benefactors Mary B. Brown and Alice Shaffer. The corporation was established to use philanthropy as a tool to support Tennessee Valley Art Association programming for the people of the tri-state region.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Tennessee Valley Art Association Foundation for Endowment, Inc. is to solicit and invest charitable contributions and to distribute earnings for the exclusive benefit of the Tennessee Valley Art Association, Inc., in support of its mission to operate arts facilities and planned arts programs that improve the quality of life in northwest Alabama.

Governance

The Tennessee Valley Art Association Foundation for Endowment, Inc. (TVAAFE) is a tax-exempt public charity in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. A volunteer board of eleven directors made up of a diverse group of community leaders from across the northwest Alabama region governs TVAAFE. The Board of Directors meets quarterly at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Tuscumbia. As a 501(c)(3) organization, TVAAFE files a Form 990 tax return with the IRS annually. The TVAAFE Board of Directors is committed to good governance practices, transparency and accountability to the communities, organizations and donors that we serve. Form 990 is open to public inspection.
